VERSAPRINT Industrial Workshop Showcases Pathways to Market for Printed Battery Innovation

On 14 April 2026, the VERSAPRINT consortium gathered in Grenoble for its final event: the VERSAPRINT Industrial Workshop, “Versatile Printed Battery Solutions for Next-Generation Electrified Mobility.” Hosted at CEA’s facilities as a full-day hybrid event, the workshop brought together VERSAPRINT consortium partners alongside academic researchers, engineers, industrial stakeholders, technology developers, EU innovation ecosystem representatives, business experts, and standardisation actors. This balanced participation enabled a holistic exchange of perspectives across the complete innovation chain and enriched discussions on how printed battery technologies can move from research to industrial deployment.

Key objectives of the workshop

  • Present and validate VERSAPRINT innovations
  • Connect with complementary European initiatives
  • Explore commercialisation and scale-up pathways
  • Engage industry stakeholders
  • Address sustainability and circularity challenges
  • Promote networking and collaboration opportunities
  • Reinforce VERSAPRINT’s contribution to European policy priorities

A strategic forum for industrial deployment

The event showcased VERSAPRINT’s modular printed battery building blocks across cell, cell-unit, and module levels, targeting applications in automotive, aeronautics, and maritime mobility. Key technological achievements were presented, including 3D-printed thermal management structures, innovative busbar designs, polymer-cased modules, and cross-sector demonstrators.

Through project presentations, industry showcases, European research sessions, and an interactive roundtable, participants discussed how to advance from TRL 5 research results towards industrial deployment. Sustainability, eco-design, life-cycle assessment, and circularity were embedded as cross-cutting themes throughout the discussions.

During the event, a graphic facilitator produced a visual summary capturing the key discussions and themes of the day. Through a series of illustrations, this external and creative perspective reflected the breadth of topics addressed, spanning technology, sustainability, industrialisation, and collaboration.
