VERSAPRINT Marks Two Years of Progress with Successful 4th General Assembly in Belgium

Gosselies, Belgium – 6 June 2025. The VERSAPRINT project celebrated a major milestone this week, hosting its 4th General Assembly at the facilities of SONACA in Gosselies, Belgium on 4–5 June 2025. The event brought together representatives from across the consortium to assess progress, align on future actions, and engage in strategic dialogue with members of the project’s Advisory Board.

Marking the second anniversary of the project, the General Assembly showcased substantial progress made in developing and validating the VERSAPRINT Building Block (BB) approach, which leverages additive manufacturing to create modular, adaptable battery components for a range of applications, from electric vehicles to aerospace. The two-day meeting included presentations from each Work Package leader, addressing technical milestones, KPIs, and progress toward deliverables, as well as detailed assessments of lifecycle, performance, and validation results from real-world test environments.

Highlights included:

  • Updates on building blocks at the cell, unit, and module levels
  • The simulation and decision-support tool to boost design replicability
  • Advances in life cycle assessment and standardisation pathways
  • Discussions on market exploitation, including KERs and IP strategy

A dedicated session with the VERSAPRINT Advisory Board, held online on 5 June, brought valuable external perspectives to the consortium. Participants included representatives from companies such as ACC (Automotive Cells Company), AIRBUS, CRIT Research, TORRECID, and Turkish Aerospace. The session featured a presentation of the technological advances made within the project, followed by a structured feedback discussion focused on application potential, market relevance, and future collaboration opportunities. A follow-up survey was also launched to collect additional insights and recommendations.

The General Assembly also served as a vital opportunity for informal exchange and team building, with dynamic discussions during breaks, a joint dinner, and a guided visit to SONACA’s facilities.

VERSAPRINT continues to strengthen synergies across Europe’s battery innovation ecosystem, working in alignment with Horizon Europe’s priorities and clustered R&I initiatives to support sustainable, high-performance battery technologies.

What’s Next?

Following this productive meeting, the consortium will integrate the insights and feedback received into its next phase of development. The outcomes of the General Assembly will also feed into ongoing dissemination and exploitation activities, including further engagement with industry and policymakers.
