The RTR Conference 2025, held from February 11-13 in Brussels, provided a unique platform for showcasing the latest advancements in EU-funded road transport projects. The event gathered researchers, industry experts, and policymakers to discuss the impact of Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects, highlighting their contributions to sustainability, safety, and innovation in road transport.
VERSAPRINT was featured in the session ‘High-Performance and Safe-by-Design Next-Generation Battery Systems for Road Transport Applications’, alongside other pioneering projects such as BATSS, EXTENDED, NEXTBAT, and TEMPEST—all part of the EU-INGENIOuS Cluster.
Lisa-Lou Gracia from CEA took the stage to present VERSAPRINT, emphasising its key innovations and sustainability-driven approach to battery system development. The session was moderated by Martha Gialampouki from CINEA, and Manasa Sridhar Executive Board member at BEPA.
One of the key takeaways from the session was the audience’s strong interest in VERSAPRINT’s sustainability aspects. The project’s efforts to enhance battery recyclability, safety, and efficiency sparked insightful discussions, reflecting the industry’s urgent need for greener and more effective battery solutions.

In addition to VERSAPRINT, several sister projects presented their latest developments:
- BATSS – Iosu Cendoya presented insights into a new battery system based on advanced cell technology to enhance safety and efficiency.
- EXTENDED – Maximilian Mellin introduced advancements in multifunctional, modular, and scalable semi-solid state battery systems.
- NEXTBAT – Mikko Pihlatie explored strategies for developing the safest and most sustainable battery systems, considering electrical, thermal, and mechanical safety.
- TEMPEST – Jeremy Warren discussed next-generation multiple architecture battery packs designed for industrial applications.
VERSAPRINT’s presence at the RTR Conference 2025 reinforced its position at the forefront of next-generation battery technology. By collaborating with fellow EU projects, we continue to push boundaries, shaping the future of sustainable, high-performance energy storage for road transport.
Stay tuned for more updates on our journey toward transforming battery technology!
